Jerzy Grobelny

grobelny-cut.jpgProf. Grobelny’s research interests lie broadly in ergonomics and its links with production management and marketing foundations. His main results include methods and algorithms supporting ergonomic workstation design, interactive systems, and visual communication. He developed a digital human modeling concept in CAD environments in the 1990s. His Apolinex system was used in teaching and industrial practice. His linguistic pattern concept from the 1980s enabled algorithms optimizing facility layout under approximate, expert-defined conditions.

He is the author of over 160 publications, including more than 20 JCR-listed papers (total IF > 50). Member of the editorial board of Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science (Taylor & Francis), and for over 20 years of International Journal of Production Research. Since 2015 he has served on the scientific committee of the AHFE (Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics) global conference series. He has led two OPUS grants and participated in three others.

Between 1995–2016 he chaired the Doctoral Committee in Management and Quality Sciences at the Faculty of Computer Science and Management. He contributed to the creation of the Doctoral School at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, representing the NZJ discipline on its Council and co-designing the curriculum. In 2019–2020 he was Vice-Chair of the NZJ Discipline Council. In 2023 he was awarded the title Professor Magnus at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
